On November 11, 2017 I got to go on an exclusive tour of the Scripps Pottery Collection. It is housed in the basement of the college in filing cabinets and open crates.
Most of the collection came to the college through one donor, Fred Marer. He was a mathematics professor at Los Angeles City College and amassed this incredible collection on a very limited budget by forming relationships with the artists. It has more than 180 objects highlighting many well known ceramic artists.
